How To Let Go of the Past

Are you holding onto something you need to let go of?

The truth is, in order to make space for something new in our lives, we must let go of what's no longer serving us. Whether it's a new project, a business venture, or a fresh chapter in our lives, we need to actively choose to let go of the old to make room for the new.

But what happens when you're trying to embrace change, yet you're holding onto past experiences, fears, and worries about the future? The answer is simple: you'll keep creating the same future you've always known.

Letting go isn't easy, and I know this firsthand, especially as someone who tends to be sentimental. However, through personal experience and inner work, here's what I've learned:

1️. Understand why you're holding on

The body actually has good reasons for holding on - it's to protect ourselves from future pain.

By acknowledging this innate need to protect ourselves, we can have more self-compassion rather than judging ourselves for holding on. With patience and practice, letting go becomes easier.

2. Acknowledge your feelings

We tend to dismiss fear and negative emotions instead of acknowledging them, but acknowledging and accepting these emotions allows us to let them pass, rather than suppressing them.

3. Choose curiosity

There’s no judgement in curiosity! Instead of worrying about what could go wrong if you let go, get curious about what you're holding onto and why. Imagine the possibilities that await you once you do let go.

Ultimately, the choice is yours to make. Choosing to let go of what's holding you back, at your own pace, will free up your energy and allow you to create the reality you desire from a place of alignment.
